Believe it when you see it!:}

This will be a wakeup call for DJ if they still have any intention on flying domestic routes in NZ.

As well as a wake up call for the JitCinnict drivers I would have thought.....

Do enlighten us boocs!

What the hell has it to do with the drivers?

ahhhhh gee I don't know ummmmm maybe they'll be out of a job - that might have something to do with them....

Unless of course they want to leave JC to go to the new J*NZ at 20% less naturally. BTW what is 20% of F%$k All?

I don't get it, what's the point of a Qantas company going into direct competition with another Qantas company? And if it isn't direct competition (e.g., different routes) then why not just get Jetconnect to expand a bit?

I'm not sure about it myself, but I was lead to believe that JC would be doing mostly Trans-tasman out of Auckland and Wellies, maybe J* will do some but not all domestic flying in NZ to fly the flag as it were and raise brand awareness. Just like Qantas can't afford to not fly the flag in Domestic NZ.

Unless of course they want to leave JC to go to the new J*NZ at 20% less naturally. BTW what is 20% of F%$k All?

I would think that if it was like when J* took over the CHCH base, anyone wanting to transfer to J* from JC had to apply like everyone else and pay for their endorsement on the A320. That would suck for those current JC crews who have already forked the best part $NZD20K for their 733 rating.

If J* shops around for planes "suitable" for NZ Domestic flying, you'd think they would go with Airbus, given most, if not all, their short haul fleet is from France etc.

Perhaps Darth is attempting to make Jetstar to be more valuable so the new owners will get more when they sell it.

This way Darth pleases his new bosses and increases his own bonus (AGAIN)

He could also be trying to block out any others to take as much market share as possible.

I hope you are enlightened Captain F by all of the other posts.

Looks to me that there is selective reading going on...
But the timing could be some way off, if Mr Joyce's comments to The Australian newspaper last week are any indication.
He said Jetstar's first priority will be considering increasing its presence in cities like Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.
And the newspaper said Jetstar's offshore plans are unlikely to include domestic New Zealand at this stage.

I would have thought the threat of Tiger to be higher on the agenda, rather than the State run airline called Air New Zealand.

Actually, Rescue1,
Air New Zealand is not state run at all.
It might be 80% owned by the NZ Government, But they do not have any input at all into its running.
The NZ Government bailed it out to avoid it going belly-up.

You take the bait too easily LocoDriver, at least make them work for it ;).

Thank you Loco, I stand corrected - State owned.

Looking at the Jetstar website, there are no related Press Releases on any expansion? Perhaps this a little posturing from the Jetstar spin machine?:hmm:

more like journo's trumping up a story... but i guess comments like 'Jetstar are going to start NZ Domestic operations' make for better headlines than 'We asked Jetstar if they were going to come to fly NZ domestic and they said they are open to all possibilities and might, one day, but probably not in the near future, start flying NZ domestic'...

also did anyone notice the TV3 presenter say 'Jetstar will Stoon start flying in NZ'??? :ugh:

Why do these airlines think they can make money outta a country with less people than Sydney?

CT7....good point mate...nothing personal, but think outside of the box...money is money....Airlines are nothing but scavengers of money feeding the shareholders ..

Even if the product is ****e,but making money, its all good(maybe). The outfit I fly for,(approx 6000 pilots) our product is ****e....but we make money and lots of it...I shake my head constantly:ugh: but people are willing to fly us....

Competiton is great, but at what cost....and the Tax writeoffs for these start ups and established Airlines are well known......kiwi may have only 4 million, but the airlines always see potential.....money laundering is alive and well....PB

Too right it is, yeh.
ANZ have announced they will be contributing an equal 4% to the new "Kiwisaver" Super scheme of it's employees... of course it's out of generousity the company is doing this, not for the massive tax write-off advantages it achieves.

or the fact that its going to be legally required to do so...

Or the fact that the current super scheme is 7.5%.

Yes Hard Core, they MAY be required to do so in 1 YEARS TIME, if the current shonks aren't voted out, especially seeing they "can not guarantee the deposits"!!!
In other words, deposits go through their IRD (Tax Dept) before reaching the chosen Super fund... and the Govt that runs the IRD can not guarantee keeping their grubby hands off it... :ugh:
Why would an employer pay extra Super, before it's time except for tax benefits?
I would like to think they are doing it for the good of the employees and in turn retain good workers but such companies are few and far between today. Good on them if they are though ;)
Sorry to divert the thread.
It was about Jetstar Domestic in NZ...
... many new Pornstar employees are currently being offered Oz bases with 9 Scarebuses arriving, that suggests NZ domestic is someway off for them and leaves room for "iwijet" or PacBlue.

..."play-on" is the call :ok:
