View Full Version : Witty Dining in night Graces

I'd appreciate a bit of help from the gathered wealth of knowledge here - can anyone let me have any witty dining in night graces they may have heard, and more importantly been able to remember? I recall being creased up with laughter at some of the brilliant ones I've heard, but I'm not able to penetrate the port-driven haze and remember any of them!

Not trying to be difficult but have you tried a search on the forums for this? There was a whole topic on it a while back.

Try these for size:

For well-filled plate
and brimming cup,
and freedom from the washing up.
We thank you, Lord. Amen

As we gather here to dine,
We thank thee Lord for food and wine,
Bless each course from first to last,
As we chat of times gone past,
Future hopes and expectations,
Postings to obscure locations.
So to our stomachs we now turn
As for contentment they do yearn.
No longer for satisfaction shall they wait,
Let’s all sit down and masticate. Amen

God, who gave each man a stomach,
And a wife to comment on it,
Bless those who would desire us thinner,
Now let’s eat a five course dinner. Amen

Gents,

Thanks for the link, tried to search before I posted but I must have been too specific with the wording.

I've always liked "God bless this bunch as they crunch their lunch".

Oh lord in heaven so divine
who first turned water into wine
Please forgive these foolish men
about to turn it back again

Heard a good multi-cultural blessing a while back;
'Jesus, Budha, Allah too
Who loves ya baby?
Time to chew'

I once copped a double detention for

"May the Lord makes us able,
to eat all on the table. Amen"

Good wine, good meat,
Thank God, let's eat.

Amen.

Not strictly a grace, but my favourite benediction is:

God bless all here! That's his job. May the skin of your arse never cover a banjo and may you get to heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're deid.
