I currently hold a Canadian CPL/IR, just wondering what the process is to convert the licence in order to work in India. Also are small carriers hiring pilots with 500 TT. Any links to the small carrier jobs in India.

A friend of mine who has an ex-pat Boeing 737 contract there tells me that there is no licence for foreign pilots-- Indian authorities simply issue a licence validation certificate on your foreign licence. I think he mentioned something about a simple written exam, but maybe not even that.

Unless you are Indian, the expat jobs go to type-rated with significant time on type pilots. I read that one Canadian flight school is opening a satellite operation in India, staffed by Canadian flight instructors, so if you want to go to India this is an option.

India is not for low timers, unless Indian.
Once you have an Airbus,Boeing or ATR rating, you can apply directly or through agencies. But 100 or 200 hours on type will not do.
As stated, no conversion needed.

Speaking local langauge doesnt mean anything.u got to hold Indian passport.

Well u can try for 'Overseas citizen if India'.But i am not sure what airline policy is on recruiting OCIs.('hpcock' if you are reading this please put in your inputs regarding having an OCI stamp on ones passport and getting employed in Indian aviation).
