Can anybody give me some ball park figures to what is a reasonable strip length for a Grand Caravan?

No need to be too scientific. Say SL to 1000ft PA. ISA to ISA +15ish. What about at MTOW?

I know the 208 is not a true STOL machine, but it has got an element of bushiness about it.

I'm guessing 700 metres would be good enough with a bit of margin. Fair? I'm sure its been in and out of some tight ones, but need to know what could be reasonably expected of it without dragging its arse over the fence! :ok:

I used to fly these wonderful birds all over Central Africa , true there are aircraft that will fly faster, carry more , take off shorter but none in my mind do all three fairly , for the Grand Van we used have fairly strict weight limits out of certain strips but overall 8300-8500Ibs for a 900Metre grass strip with a 100ft obstacle at the end in my case they were trees, for a 1000ft AMSL and 25C. For a fully loaded 9062Ib MTOW I would like a nice 'uninterupted' 1200+/-Metres with a bit of safety margin although tarmac. grass add another 1.23 for grass factor and seperator out in bypass.
Is that ok for starters?:ok:

Thanks for that. Numbers are a tad higher than I imagined. As you say, its an all rounder and not a specialist.

Cheers for the good advice - will do.
