Does Anybody know what are the flight minimums for Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways? Also any other requirement needed. I went to their websites and couldn't find anything. Any information would be great

Unless you are Japanese and go through the cadet program, I dont think it is possible to work for JAL or ANA. You can however work for one of the other companies in the family (JALways, Air Japan, etc) . You have to be hired through a crew leasing company so check their websites and you will find the answers that you seek.

Think you are pretty spot on regarding working for the "majors" in Japan and possibilities in their spin-offs, also there are a few "newer" companies in the de-regulated environment on the lookout for expat pilots.
Hawaiian aviation in particular is a great website (:D ) as they give a pretty good indication of pay, of course they do not get into the nitty gritty of tax, accommodation costs, alien registration etc (LOTS of interesting catches in the details for the unwary) but have to start somewhere I suppose! :ok:
This is NOT to say they are the best (maybe/maybe not) but at least they post more info, more agencies should take note!!!

Still better that Parc - there you have to go cap in hand and plead - "please please sir, may I have some information on that contract you have in ....!!":

No comment on good/bad/ugly but other agencies that have their inroads in Japan are iasco, IAC, Rishworth. Maybe others?
Regards to all.

Actually, I think the Hawaii contract is actually better for the Dash-8

It seems that each has his own opinion as to which company is better. I applied first to Hawaii but was told it was too late. The next day I submitted to PARC, and was on the plane to interview, later got the job. Some guys have had the exact opposite experience. It seems to be the luck of the draw.

However, in hindsight, as an American it seems that Hawaii would be a little better. PARCs insurance will not cover dependents in the US. That can be a big expense. Also, PARCs retirement account does not have the same tax advantages as Hawaii's 401k. Just some things to consider.

I'm thinking a lot about the Dash contract... I'd love to hear from anyone actually working it~

Any info would be greatly appreciated on how your training went, QOL, mistakes not to make, etc.....

Thanks!

What’s the real low down on Taxes in Japan. Doing the contracts are you a Allian, Japan taxes seem very favorable. What are the tax rates there if any one can be kind enough to share?
:O
Oh Thanks

I'm sure the guys who have just started with the ANA group on 76's (Air japan, AJX etc) will have up to date info, be interested to hear their take.

My understanding is you have to have Alien Registration to pay japanese tax and a (the) company has to sponsor you to be eligible for A.R.

If you have a contract with pay "net of Japanese taxes" you obviously have A.R, you do not really care how much tax is paid on your behalf however I believe it is paid under the corperate rate and the 3 levels of tax will add up to somewhere between 15-20%.
If taxes are not mentioned then (in the past at least, especially thinking of the ANA 76 contracts) you will not have A.R. and any tax considerations are between yourself, God and/or and your home country (or whatever you can organise.)
IF you have A.R. but tax is not a part of your contract I believe you woulds pay at personal tax rates which are allegedly much higher, have heard 30-40% but hearsay only.

Happy to hear any updated info/interpretations.
