Hi Guys/Girls,

I have been offered an assessment as a FO for Air India Express. I'm a UK national and would like to seek advice/opinions from expatriate pilots living and working in India. I'm particularly interested in:

Cost of living
Climate
Lifestyle (things to do on days off etc)
Employment opportunites for spouse/fiance (Mrs Bonernow wants a job too!)
Any other info that you think may be useful

Also if anyone has any info about the airline/assessment and any other general info about the make up of the company, I'm sure that would be useful too.

Many thanks for your input

Cost of living in India is much lower than in the West. It also depends on where you are based. Here are some stats for New Delhi.
1. 3 Bedroom apartment (unfurnished) Between INR 50,000-70,000 per month
depending on size and complex. Cheaper ones can be had but may be in a non-expat neighborhood.
2. Maids/Drivers etc will be around INR 5000-7000 a month max.
3. Weather-Hot in June/July/August.
4. Employment--Can probably find some private employment as a teacher etc or with a UK organization in India. No guarantee.
5. If you have never been to India, consider a visit before deciding. It's not for everyone.
