Mystery Qantas cargo.

Anyone got any more details on what the 'mystery' Qantas cargo was? My initial thought was that it was the drugs reported seized in another story, but this quote:
The police spokesman also said all further comment should be made by Qantas.
Made me not so sure, anyone?:eek:

It does say heading for 'the Reserve', money perhaps?:}

Its probably a delivery of fresh banknotes to WA. I did one a few years ago. 4.5 tonnes of moolah.

We wasted the first hour of the cruise speculating how much that amounted to. Then we wasted the second hour figuring if we could get away with a fake depressurisation and a low level diversion to Forrest.

Then we forgot about it till arrival in Perth where there was Pol-Air awaiting us overhead, and lots of men in black sporting Uzi's on the tarmac.

Its got to be a lot of money.

slight thread drift but years ago, either late fifties or early sixties some new currency for Australia was being shipped from London to Sydney.A mate of mine was on the ship and everyone had been warned that security would be tight because lots of Oz money would be loaded that day just before sailing. Sure enough many police about and everyone waited for the money to arrive, three truck drivers walked along the quay and said they had the money. It turned out that they had arrived just after loading finished the day before and had parked up three trucks on the quay full of money and gone to find a b & b to sleep for the night.The money wasn't under guard all night. At Sydney it was discharged under the supervision of the army and taken away in a convey lead by an armoured car..

Who cares what it is,

Obviously they think its valuable so let them guard it, but if I have a disturbance it still takes 45 mins minimum for them to get to my house.
