I'm going to be based in Kaliningrad for a few months. Has anyone been there? If so can you give me any info on the place. Quality of the hotels in particular!

Haven't been overnighting there for a long time.
Visited the airport few months ago.
Not too much there, I am afraid.
Airport is very small with minimum "russian standard" old equipment.
The city itself is isolated both from the motherland and EU.
There was a "huge" HIV outbreak about 10 years ago with the city's large nargotic user population...
