The rumour mills are working overtime on this one.
As you all know, Air NZ are very short of S/Os, but way over-stocked with 767 Captains an F/Os. They have been in consultation with various parties sorting out contract work for those who agree to take unpaid leave.
Apparently the next step is to recruit externally to fill the S/O requirements. There's even talk of all those waiting on yes letters being sucked up, and possibly even more interviews. It would seem regional airline management has been warned of this pending blip on the hiring radar.
So I guess it's cautiously good news for those waiting on NZ starts, or trying to get into, or move up the ladder in the regionals.
