I have recently attended a recuritment day and have been offered a position at EMA,:ok: but have been told there is a waiting list. Does anyone know how long I may have to wait before I can start.

The job I in now is really boring :{ and can't wait to start flying.

Congratulations, no idea on the waiting list, but bmibaby seem to be a really good airline to work for, I've just applied for them for a CSA position.

Out of interest, how was the maths test?

No bad, we had a price list in euros and £'s. We was aked how much certain things were, also how much change was to be given in sterling if they paid in euros. They give you a converstion chart to do this. Took about 10 minutes

i have worked for bmibaby since the very first day it started flying. i am one of the original 32 cabin crew, theres only about 15 of us left now!
if you need to know anything please let me know i'll do my best to answer.
as regards the waiting list i'm unsure of the official time but i was told by a manager the other day that we are 5 over on cabin managers and 3 under on cabin crew and i know of 2 cabin crew that are due to leave shortly at ema.
will try and find out how long waiting time is currently!

When did bmibaby stop referring to their Number Ones as "team leaders" and change them to "cabin managers"? After a gap of about a year flying baby, my last two return trips have seen the No.1's referred to as "cabin manager." Not sure which I prefer.

When I spoke to Cabin Crew Recruitment a few weeks back they said
they have a few positions at MAN, but at the moment they are viewing
the applicants that applied in Jan 2006!

So depends on when you applied for MAN and when you will get called for an interview, speaking to friends who are there, not many positions come up, and Baby are doing alot at BHX this year apparently.

Think becasue they are perm contracts and MAN based makes them receive a large number of applicants so we all may have a long wait yet!

i was just watching course 2 get their wings yesterday! there were 21 for bhx cos of the planned expansion but only 1 for ema and 1 for man. think its very similar figures for the next course too!
thing is with ema and man and maybe cwl there aint many people leaving, so there arent many places on courses. maybe one or two to fill gaps.

Noticed that there are a number of the new starts who have been accepted (subject to passing the course) as Cabin Managers.
There seemed to be a lot of experience amongst the course.
Can only be a good thing for the airline.

I'm not sure about not many people leave EMA and MAN, baby is starting to become very cloak and dagger at the moment and there are a number of people who have either left or are planning to. The saying goes that things have to get worse before they can get better I guess. It is the only airline I have worked at where the management want you to do something wrong to give their job a purpose. Baby has some fantastic crew members, amongst the best i've worked with, its this that keeps the majority of crew at the airline.

I also watched course 2 get their wings yesterday, well did'nt quite see the wings bit but watched the presentation :D

I managed to grab a piece of cake but no champagne cause we were on recurrents so not allowed any :mad: :=

I believe their is another course starting shortly, mainly for BHX again with the odd couple for other bases, but then apparently the course after that will be a good mixture for all bases.

If you have previous flying experience and want a senior position within a few months, then BHX is the base to apply for as their is no movement at all in NEMA and when it finally does come up... the whole base will be eligable for it and will go for it ( appart from the CM's themselves) :rolleyes:

I presume you havn't applied to bmibaby yet?

A bit of advice for you first then.....Please check your spelling on your covering letter when applying, because if it's as bad as the spelling in your first post, you probably wont even get an interview hun :=

Secondly....If you are successful, you will need references for the past 5 years (covering any gaps) and a criminal record check before being issued with an ID pass (airport pass you mentioned)

Bmibaby is ok to work for, it certainly has it's problems, just like any other airline i guess and they work you hard, expect to do 50+ hrs a week in the summer :{

You get a descent salary a MONTH....I presume mouth ment month!!

Finally....You do not need another LANGUAGE to work for baby.

bethy, I'm guessing at just sixteen you're deciding what exactly you want to do, but you've got two years to decide on which airline, by which stage the terms and conditions and atmosphere at any airline will have changed completely. As mentioned, a word of warning would be to check your grammar and punctuation, PPRuNe isn't really for text language (mostly because it's full of old people like myself) but more for (semi)serious discussions about our industry. Good luck to your application in two years' time, I'll echo Pandora's Box's comments when I say that the company is pretty good to work for, there are no perfect companies out there, but you can do a lot worse than bmibaby, with things having really improved over the last few years. All airlines will require you to have a CRC (criminal record check) and a disclosure form stating where you've worked or studied over the previous five years with no gaps at all so that you can get your pass.

It was mentioned on another bmibaby or uniform post about new uniforms, is there anything on that still?

There is an advert on the website for EMA based cabin crew but it seems to be on there permanently. When I was at tiny town last week for my CSA training, there was a cabin crew course there as well, but only two of the girls were for East Midlands, the rest of the 15 or so were BHX, MAN or CWL.

Only took 1 year to get their, but it has finally been confirmed.

I have an interview this month.I am preparing as much as I can.Any tips on how I can best prepare? i.e. "Maths Tests" "2 on 1" Interviews in the afternoon,(if I pass the morning tests).

Hi

The best advice I can give is be yourself.

The format of the day is:

1. Registration (You'll need you passport and Exam Certificates)
2. Video and talk from current crew members on a typical day.
3. Spit in groups for group activity (icebreaker, team work, role play)
4. Maths Test (noting too taxing, currency converting, adding up a list etc. You can use a calculator)
5. Then you have a break, after which you come back and are spit into groups. 1 being unsuccessful and 1 being the interviews group.
6. Give further information on the job.
7. Lunch
8. Give interview time.
9. 2 to 1 interview. (The question are based on "Can you give an example of when..." These will related to Teamwork, Exception Custer Service.)
10. You find out after about a week.

Depending on base, you may have to wait. I was to be based at EMA, I was put on a waiting list. It can take some time. I waited a year for my start date, put I have it now.
