Back here In NZ the CAA have just implemented new rules effective 1st Feb 2007, stating that any licence application must be accompanied by the "fit and proper person" assesment.

Part of that assesment requires that the applicant to:

1. Obtain and provide a criminal record from the Ministry of Justice for each country resided in for more than 6 consecutive months within the past 5 years.

2. Obtain and provide a Transport offence history for each country resided in for more than 6 consecutive months within the past 5 years.

While this is just another load of red tape and paperwork, it is acceptable if you have flown in NZ, because these documents are accessable. However, there are a large number of us who have flown in Africa and I am thinking that it is going to be nigh on impossible to extract these records from the required government departments.

I guess its a heads up more than anything. If you are a kiwi and working offshore, try and get hold of the docs before you come home, it will save you a bunch of migranes when you get here!!

And if you do figure out how it can be done, let us know so we can get the word out and make it easy for everyone.

Safe flying.:ok:
