Just some quick questions gentlemen:

Is every new EK pilot going onto the 777 at the moment and for the forseable future?
Do you know your assigned aircraft type before signing your contract or can you have this stated on contract?
Thanks!

I have no particular inside information, except all the planned aircraft deliveries are Boeings until the 380 arrives. So in all likeelyhood you will be recruited onto the Boeing. I beleive you are told at time of job offer, what aircraft you are on, and again I am pretty sure its before you sign your contract.

I don't think your contract will state which aircraft type because it would make it harder (but not much) to inflict an unwanted fleet change on you at a later date.

Sorry but have to disagree about the statement that in all likelihood a new joiner would go on the Boeing. The Airbus fleet is still training like crazy - new joiners are needed to replace upgrading F/Os, guys transferring to the Boeing, as well as resignations etc. The training load, if anything, has increased lately. For example, some new joiners are being sent to Cairo to complete their Airbus transition course - using the Egyptair Simulator - because the 2 Airbus Sims we have are insufficient to cope with transitions, recurrencies etc.
As to which fleet one would be sent to - historically, an Airbus rated pilot would probably be sent on to the Boeing and vice-versa!!!!!:}
Just my 2 fils worth........

It won't say on your contract and you won't know unless you ask.

Vacancies for both fleets.

I was always Boeing (with command time too) & they put me on the Airbus!

There's alot of that sort of logic! (If you can call it that).:ugh:

You will know before you sign the contract but you don't get to choose:oh: . I know a few that flew Boeing w/ command time and are in Airbus trianing as we speak and vice-versa. One asked to be changed, but no luck.

Did the interviews in January. 2weeks later was told of April start on 777.
Others in my group were also told right from start 777.

Last six months

102 B777
49 A330
2 A310

There appears to be a correlation between Boeing to Boeing and Bus to Bus. If you're on neither, it's a lottery....and past records don't necessarily reflect the future.

All DEC's have gone to the B777 in last 6 months.

I think both A and B training are trying to go as full as poss. How else are they going to train the overall numbers. Suck them in first. worry about the fleet next.Even 8 A and 8 B every 3 weeks is not enough pilots. do the math and this year is a slow year.
