Hello folks,

If a pilot has got a JAR CPL IR ME and wants to get a FAA type rating what must he/she do?
Is it possible to do the FAA CPL theory first followed by a FAA type rating??
Or is it necessary to get a FAA IR and ME first?

hello people.
i was just wandering, if you have FAA CPL with B737 type rating,(about 1000 hours total and nothing on type except the simulator training) and then convert your license to JAA, does the type rating go on your JAA license automaticaly or you have to do it again under JAA rules?
thanks

are any of the type ratings you can do in usa ( 737/A320 ) valid in jaa land and would they help to get a first job , or do they have to be done in jaa land. anyone any experience of using US type rating organizations.

If you must pay for a type rating then I wouldn't go cheap. There are some very good training outfits such as GECAT who have a high success rating of placing people with no hours on type to major airlines. If you do go to the US and find a JAA provider you will just come back with a bit of paper and be no further up the food chain.
