****su Tonka is signing off as a contributor to PPrune.

I will continue to be an avid reader of the intelligent posters that occassion here.

Thanks for some interesting and entertining threads over the years.

Unfortunately, speculators on my IRL identity are becoming a right royal PITA.

In advance let me thank you for the comment 'Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out'. (I won't! ;) )

Typical pilot, loves the sound of his own voice. Can't just go quietly, has to announce it to the world.

Enough of you talking about you ****e-tonka, how about we all talk about you. :yuk:

An appropriate user name at Post #3? I don't think S-T ever professed to be a pilot?

You've caused us a couple of worries S-T, but over all a "High Achievement" for your often rational and reasoned contribution to PPRuNe! :ok:

Good luck!

How does not posting affect your IRL identity? Why not just post more carefully?

We are being a little precious, are we not? :=:=:=

Anyone who makes a decision not to post here is a tragic loss. Perhaps more especially if the posts have wrankled feathers sufficiently for some to try to "out" the poster. This is a sad day - and a real loss to free speech on PPRuNe.

Free speech on Pprune went by the wayside when Pprune moderators censor contributors they don’t agree with. Pprune moderators have censored Dick Smith on several occasions while allowing baseless character attacks by Caroline Tulip as a case in point. It took legal action on Smith's part to get Pprune to publish an online apology from Tulip.

I am sure everyone who believes in democracy will agree that free speech comes with responsibility. Anonymity, as in the case of Caroline Tulip allows the responsibility part to be quite lacking.

You suggest that ****su Tonka may be being ‘outed’ for his contentious utterances. Maybe some folks have taken as libellous that which he has said in anonymity?

Bet you're back soon. If you stick your head in here you won't be able to help yourself!

Ppruners are like alcoholics. Total abstinence is the only way.

I fully understand. My "in real life" occupation as a XXX pornstar has also been causing me problems on PPrune which has affected my credibility.

You could just register again and make your way through the intense probationary measures...

****su Tonka, I have a suggestion. Why not post under your own name? There is no rule in PPRuNe that prevents this. Then you won’t have to worry about someone speculating about who you are – they will already know.

Your self-esteem will be raised immeasurably because you will show that you are brave enough to stand by your convictions.

You have stated that you are an air traffic controller working for Airservices Australia. Surely that organisation would not restrict your career advancement if they knew who you were, and surely your genuinely held views in relation to aviation safety should not need to be hidden behind a pseudonym? Or is there a reason you need to remain hidden that I do not understand?

Breathtaking naivety is all I can come up with for your above post Dick.:ugh:

ST sorry to see you go...but know how you feel...I was sacked from a flying job by dishonest/incompetent management because of a completely innocuous post on Pprune...sufficiently innocuous in fact that even Danny Fine PMed me in horror after it became known what had happened and which post had been waved in my face as 'the excuse'.

I may post under CC but have never made a secret of who I am. My current Fleet manager even refers to me as Chimbu rather than my real name.

Aviation is awash with incompetent management and PPrune can be a constant thorn in their side...much better, they believe, to silence the critic than actually do their job.

I reckon S-T is actually Maxine McKew.

(S)he won't have time to post while trying to unseat the Prime Minister.

See you after the election ****su - hope you get more votes in Bennelong than Andrew Wilkie did!

No offence Dick, but how long has it been since you've been an EMPLOYEE???

S-T's management have threatened all staff with dismissal for posting on pprune, and used as an example an employee of an industry regulator who was sued by a colourful multi-millionaire businessman. A local ANSP doesn't want the same exposure and have directed staff accordingly.

Fortunately, ****su works for a company with more than 100 employees, thereby still covered to a limited extent by unfair dismissal legislation (At least until the next Coalition installment of workchoices). The same couldn't be said for professional pilots not working for the majors.
