Did anybody make it to the open day at YWOL yesterday ( 24/2 ) ?

There were some rare aircraft on display & also the opportunity was given to fly on the Connie.

I spent the whole day just waiting around for the Roulettes to do their routine, it was worth the wait.

Pic's below.

Yes, I brought the family down there for a look. It was definitely worth the (long) trip by car.

What's the story with the Connie? They obviously have it "almost" in old QANTAS livery, but without the actual QANTAS name on the side. Surely the company isn't preventing them from doing this.

Yes, 'twas a good day. Did my two flights, put the little aircraft away and spent the rest of the day enjoying other people burning other people's fuel and making aircraft noise.

The flames from the Connie's exhausts on her second takeoff were really impressive. Also impressive was the storm-cell, complete with lightning bolts, as a backdrop to the Roulettes display. Highly atmospheric!

An excellent day. We must do it again...soon.

I did a couple of solo circuits early in the morning and it was just beginning to get really busy up there, probably a little too busy for a low hours GFPT'er such as myself but neverthless, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to share the sky with you peeps :ok:
