Hello,

Anyone out there living in Belgium flying for NJE?
My question is, is there a lateral agreement between the Belgium and Portugese tax authority?
In other words, if you pay 25% tax in Portugal while living in Belgium, will the Belgium tax authority leave you alone and accepts this a legal?

Any input appreciated,

CK

Since this contract is pretty new, we are still finding out the consequences for each country. It seems that double taxation is not a real problem, since most of the countries have a mutual agreement to avoid double taxation, provided you have a working contract with an other country and pay your taxes in this country.
For the moment it looks that only the Danish have some trouble with "double" taxation, but they are still working on this. If you pay more than the 25% depends very much on your personal situation, where you live, your nationality, the agreement between Portugal and your country. I am not familiar with the Belguim laws but ..
There is a specific paragraph for airline crews in Belguim: the employer does not matter, only the operational headquarters. The law states that you are taxable in Portugal, and therefore not in Belgium.

I hope I could help
