Have heard Atlas Air have damaged one of their B744 Freighter out of HNL, the inboard body gear doors (closest to the ctr line of the a/c) punctured and torn.....Not sure what they hit or if it was pushed back into something out of HNL....Any Aircraft arrives AKL and they dont have authority to repair it....aircarft to fly to Sydney for Qantas to repair by replacing these doors with B747-200 series type....Shame Qantas have closed down their heavy maintenance as they are struggling for manpower...still management feel happy, they got their bonuses......brings back the old saying, why would you trust management....
anyone obtain any pics? N418MC Air NewZealands leased freighter

The aircraft went to aus because there were no spare gear doors in NZ. Permission was granted for a one off flight to fly without the doors I understand.
The damage was significant to one of the doors, but the other was minorly damaged.
I have a photo but can't figure out how to upload it.

Was wondering why Air New Zealand wouldnt sign out the aircraft for the fery flt to sydney and that the Altas/Polar rep from Sydney had to fly over to sign the aircraft out for a gear down dispatch to sydney?
any ideas why?
