Nigerian scam mail or....

Have any of you ever seen nigerian scam mail that offers pilot position?
I think I just got one. First that I have ever seen.

Last time something like this came up it for jobs with Exxon/Mobil I think and required the candidate to send money.....

Seems rather a conflict here. Where would they have acquired your resume in the first place and, if they have it already, why would they ask you for it again?

They don't have his resume, they don't know his name.
They just know maybe after reading his posts that this guy is hungry for a job.
Look at the first line it's "hello", not "(Dear) Mr XX".
So obviously, they try to get his name and all the rest.

the things that rang my bell were:
1. email address was @gmail.com
2. "We will formalize everything so that you will start the job as soon as possible." (never met anyone so eager to have a low time pilot)
3. The address was in Nigeria.
4. No recollection of sending them my resume, which would have been in word document anyway.

They have my full name. the original post was poorly presented by me. I changed it. But they could have got it from websites that offer pilots to put resumes on (I may have done that). But they used an email that I used back in 2001 or 2002, and I only use now for registering on some websites that I dont trust. I have another email that I use on resumes that I send out.

SASless - For a minute there he nearly had me going and I almost applied for the post myself!!

ivor the driver - The FCL section of the CAA is notoriously slow in producing the goods, but very quick on taking your cash. Suggest you try a quick call to remind them of your existence. Better still, tell them that you likely success in ongoing job seeking is reliant on receiving said piece of paper..

Oh yes, they have found thier way onto the internet.
These games/scams have went on for many many years now, im sure most know of them. i have a friend who works from home and spends alot of time playing with these..... people (for want of a better word).
He has done it for so long now, he knows all the main players and where they are and how they work and plays them against each other which is the best bit, they would kill each other at the drop of a hat,and gets them to spend what little money they have thinking they are on a winner, he does it so well. He would send me copies of his emails etc for my amusement, its amaizing the length they go to.
But little comfort for those who get scammed, Beware.

Any email from Nigeria is a scam, even if it is genuine, they are still trying to rip you off. :ugh:

Sorry Mate,
Your identity has probably just been stolen by this little pishing expedition.
Check everything: bank statement, phone bills, credit cards.
You also may be a featured player in a mortgage scam. PM for details.
Call your credit card companies and make certain that they know that you are at home and will call them if you leave the country.
Low time jobs are hard to come by; but don't be so f*****g naif. :ouch:
