From Ryanair to Easyjet is it a good move.

The more people I fly with at Ryanair the more I come across the subject of moving to Easyjet.

Is it a good move or is it out the frying pan into the fire from one low cost to another so to speak.

Just wondered if there was anyone out there that had made the move from Ryanair to Easyjet and were now happy with this move………

i moved from Ryanair to Easyjet after 1 year because easyjet are a much company & i can put up with the pilots from easyjet because they don't have a go at me as much because 'i'm a girl'. The atmosphere is also nicer at easyjet & your not under as much pressure as when your in Ryanair-i'm sure they are the only airline that actually speed up after landing just so they can drop off the passengers quicker & get off quicker but that's me & my friend's opinion although we did have a bit of a bad time at Ryanair and some of their pilots!:p

On paper it looks a much better deal at easy. The money is now the same if not slightly better at easy and you get all the benefits that aren't on offer at fr.

EasyJet is a country mile better than FR (I'm ex FR).

The problem for FR Captains at STN is the waiting list (over 30) to be based at STN. My experience suggests that FR guys will put up with almost anything rather than risk having to move base (or be bonded on the Airbus).
The other thing that FR guys tend to do when making comparisons is quote their highest pay-cheque of the year and conveniently forget the value of all the freebies at easy eg LOL, pension, food and drink, plus two award-winning share schemes and finally a no-strings leave allocation (25 days).

EasyJet has improved hugely over the past couple of years and most people will say they are "proud to be part of it" - I've yet to meet anybody proud to be working for Ryanair.

Making the move from FR to EZY is a no-brainer.

Working with easy, although no experience with Ryanair, I find it a fantastic place to work. Good money, career progression, average pension, great share schemes, great rostering 5453, well maintained aircraft, brilliant leave system (fully transparent) great base transfer policy...when your number comes up away you go regardless. Great people and NOW a really good vibe in the workplace.

Negatives 5 earlies in a row and you do work quite hard.....no harder than ryanair I guess.

One more important thing is you feel that the company supports you as opposed to demoting you at the first signs of something wrong.

These are just my views and are not neccesarily the same for everyone!:)

Many of my friends went to EZ with low hours. But the only way (at least a couple of years ago) was via successful entry into the CTC ATP Scheme.

I hate to admit it, but things at easy are really making a turn for the better. The share scheme has lifted peoples spirits loads, rostering is getting better but still not perfect and dont forget we operate CAP371 which is more restrictive on a pre 6am 4 sector day than the Irish one.

I dont ever feel like I am under any pressure from management, crewing or my peers and I find it a friendly and pleasant place to work. Sure, things arent perfect but find somewhere that is and I bet the line is long, or it is so small that no-one knows about it!

We work hard sometimes, but at least I know that, rather than be in a place where I am not and my company is trimming back and changing rostering just to keep up like it seems to be everywhere else now.

Whilst easy tried to follow the ryans on so many 'initiatives' they imposed the union and the workforce just didn't stand for it so thankfully our T&C's are slowly creeping up whilst we see many others creeping down.

Will it last? Who knows I just know that if I was in Ryanair now with their reputation safety wise being dragged over the coals by the tabloids and sectors being hard to come by with the supposed overrecruitment, my paycheck suffering as a result I would be looking elsewhere, but then I guess many are at Ryanair. Not many are now at easyJet!

Very true. I know so many guys at FR now that are doing their very best to get out and away from the worst t's+c's in the industry, and get into easy..

You need to visit the wannabes forum. You'll find posts by young eager wannabes quite happy to be used as prostitutes by FR. Quite frankly, FR have made their huge pilot turnover a source of profit. Everytime one walks out of the the door, a 250 hours guy gladly hands over £20k for his type rating, earning a pittence for 6 months to a year. You see, money made not only through the TR but through reduced salaries.

So any wonder the safety concerns get worse and worse, it's going to be a race between REPA and a smoking hole, :( either of which will get rid of o'leary, only then will Ryanair start to change and develop into what could be a great airline.
