What is the definition of Cross Country flight for purposes of logging in Australia. Is it a distance or time from point of departure?
Thanks in advance.

Im my part of the globe, Iceland, it is considered to be any flight further away from point of departure than 25Nm.

From CAR 1988 Part 1 interpretation:

cross-country flight time means flight time during which the pilot of an aircraft applies a particular method to determine the aircraft’s position and course by geometry, topography or radio navigation aids while the aircraft is flying along a route segment.

cross-country training means flight for the purpose of practising the navigation sequences set out in a syllabus.

From CAO 40.2.1 (Instrument Rating) para 2.1

cross-country means flight for the purpose of either visual or radio navigation. This may constitute either a single leg to a destination other than the point of departure or a number of sectors terminating at either the point of departure or another destination.

It's all in there man, you just gotta know where to find it......:E Hope it helps.
