Slow Start up

Startup on my computer has slowed up considerably over the last few weeks, and seems to go on forever. Once it gets going, everything seems to go at normal speed. I don't recall having put any additional programmes or info in that would slow startup operations. The only items in the startup programme menu are Adobe Reader and MS Office, which, I think have been there for a good long while.

Anybody any thoughts?

If you go Start, Run then type msconfig you will see exactly how many and what programmes are loaded at start up.
