Got new camcorder at Xmas. Will I be able to take it on in hand luggage? :confused:

Thanks. Just wasn't sure. I wondered if that was the sort of thing I couldn't have because if I was filming around an airport and so on, people may get the wrong idea.
In fact, I'm taking my dear old Ma for what will probably be her last trip abroad, and want to document it as far as possible so she can bore her friends and family with the films!
If I film in the business class lounge (LGW), will I get told off?
The planes rotate right in front of the lounge, and the view is great. You can see most of the take off run, so I'd love to film a few, but, again, would I get shouted at if I did?
It's certainly ok to take a camcorder as hand luggage, as long as you only have one bag of course !
You often see travellers using camcorders airside, just don't try it in the imigration and customs areas where it's definately prohibited.

One bag........forgot about that. Last time, as I remember, I had a bag (mostly full of mothers' stuff. She had a bag (ditto!), but I think she also had a handbag. Well, I'm sure she did, but did we perhaps put it in the bigger bag so that we only had one bag each? Can't remember.
That was last June.
So is it the case now that we can have a bag each, and that's it? Which would include ladies handbags?
After a stroke, she now walks with a cane. But not far. She needs to get from check in to the lounge, and then from there to the gate. She won't even make it from the check in to the lounge without help.
I don't know what the protocol is for this sort of thing, since she's never been this disabled before.
At the check in, can we ask for a buggy to take her to the lounge, and then later to the gate?

Your wife can have a handbag but she will have to put it inside her other cabin bag when going through security. Yes, I know this sounds, and is, ridiculous.
For info the 'one bag' rule is not a DfT requirement, this has been imposed by the people who own and run the airports, the less bags they have to screen the fewer security staff they have to employ....
Sorry, I missed the buggy question. I think it will not be a problem,which airport and airline are you flying from and with ?

I note you're in Strasbourg. I went on Eurostar to Brussels almost exactly 2 years ago, both for the first time. Very odd feeling, timewise. I was at home in Kent in the morning, got on a train in Canterbury at 8.30, and at luchtime I was in a very nice hotel in Brussels (Hotel Le Plaza, Blvd Adolphe Max, Five Star. Given the weather, I didn't want to leave it. And given the beer and the decor, why on earth would I?!!)
Weather was horrible, around zero for the three days I was there. Old city center nice. Beer and choccys excellent! Mannekin Pis had an even smaller one than me. But then it was cold!
Hope Strasbourg is better.

Brussels is our big brother, Strasbourg being the second home of the European Parliament of course. Every 4 weeks thousands of Parliament people travel the 600kms south to Strasbourg at great expense to the European tax payer.
I like Brussels also, especially the beer:)
I know what you mean about the Manneken Pis, but as you said it gets cold there:) -4 here in Strasbourg at the moment.....

I guess this is the best place to post this....
Anyone know if Us Airways has any problems with taking cameras in the cabin? I want to take pictures during flight and don't want it to get lost since it is worth $400. Also any one know if they will allow me to take my ham radio in the cabin? I'm not going to use it but it is also worth $350. I haven't traveled since before 9/11 so I would like to know before flight.
