Hallo everyone :)

I recently got my frozen ATPL and will be joining GF soon. I am still not sure what fleet i will be joining but what I wanted to know from you guys is where is it best to start? the 767s or the 320s ? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both? How long does it take to be a first officer ? I heard that it takes an average of 3 months in the 320 and 8 months in the 767 is that true ? And how easy is it to move from one fleet to the other ? Thats it for now your answers would be appreciated.:)

Where he got the ATPL from should have no bearing on his transition from second officer to first officer as far as I'm aware....not able to answer the question as far as time frame...lot of it depends on the work you put into your training you do get more sectors per on the 320 though but it always depends on the availability of TRI's as well...welcome aboard..good luck:ok:

More than likely any newbies will go to the a-320..better for career progression anyway...767 is great for old guys like me, but for the youngsters who may need other career options later on, the airbus is a much more useful type to have....yes 8 f.o.'s positions on a-340 from within...not sure if it is limited to 767 or not...

When they will transfer FOs to A340 and is it based on seniority , and what i know all B767 pilots a new they have no experiance on jet most of them were flying light aircraft .

 and 8 fos to A340 what i know almost all the pilots want to transfer is it true .

fleet transfer to a340 from 767 ..... what i know 767 pilots were saperated from the airbus fleet 1 Q why 767 always flies to the destinations not like the other fleets ie JNB , BKK, HKG etc .. why a320 pilots 6months to 1 year and transfred to other flet and 767 pilots no career progress, will stay on the same fleet .

last time i remember any 767 pilots going to 340 was just as GT AUH was starting some of the senior 767 went to the 340..."temp" capts were brought in to cover the shortage...they are still here..8 f.o.'s now to transfer to 340...dont know how many will bid it...most 767 f.o. are jet experienced from other airlines..

UPDATE: slots for 8 767 f.o.'s for 340 fleet to be awarded by seniority..this is to avoid hiring direct entry-330/340 as was done previously...

Hello,

If you got your Frozen ATPL from Qatar that means you are local as you said and GF payed the training since you either know someone or an A+ Student :E , GF will retire their B767 soon enough so It's a risk actually you can find yourself in an A330 perhaps or A340 in a while or you have to do everything all over again from ZERO back to the A320. Think about it

Hi there,
Yes I am a local and did my training in Qatar. I have no contacts there ( no wasta ), I had to go through the selection process which consisted of english maths and various other tests and interviews and I am very proud of myself to have passed it :D . Any idea of when they are going to retire the 767s and what are they going to be replaced with ?
