Anyone know what this aircraft is / was up to?

Looked to be a Dornier or Dash 8 with red Qantas type tail and red angular panel nearer front. Circuled the bay several times at altitudes varying from 400ft to 1,500ft and very fast too... Is this Rescue 431 or similar? Just wondering.

Thanks for the Age link VB. I like the quote of " If the shark did grab someone we need to be able to respond quickly" Very comforting to know someone will find my leg after the 6m noah has chomped it.:ooh:

Technically it could have been the Customs one, definitely a dash 8, however the pic in the age does not appear to be a Customs aircraft as it has red spinners unlike those in the photos and it ain't the lifesaver 337.

It is VH-PNU Lifesaver P68

The Dornier is a rescue aircraft, and is regularly in and out of YMEN

Confirmed then, I saw Customs flying around. Wonder what they were up to. There's not much happening on Port Phillip at 7am.

Hey Capt Willy, :ugh:

Yes I saw it take off also. As far as I know, it was a regular training/proficency flight. Sounds like you know more than all the rest of us though.....
Do you have inside connections? Maybe it YOU who has more time on his hands, or was that something else on your hands?

............obviously "Slingers" is good at his name sake...........for me to know & for you to obviously ponder about !............you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know not all is what it seems !!......just 'cause they have a big new shinny red plane doesn't mean it's going all peachy !:-)
