I applied to Saudi Arabian Airlines to the post of flight attendant last year, still not reply. I noticed from their website they are only recruiting women from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Syria and Turkey.

Does this mean I do not stand a chance as I am a European national?

Do they ever recruit people as flight attendants from Europe?

Thank you,

I bet she wont :):)

Saudia used to employ Europeans, the majority of whom were based in London, Paris or New York. Following closure of these bases, they stopped recruiting in Europe. There are some left, but very very few.

The powers that be, also discovered that they could abuse FA's from other areas who didnt have the freedom to return home, hence, the large numbers from Asia and the Middle East.

Their latest recruitment is from Morrocco.... lots coming... not all for flying duties :(

BTW, the usual hiring age appears to be 18-20.

Now who in their right frame of mind would want a job as flight atttendant with SV?

Surely life isn't so bad or desperate for you to make such a move!

Thank you for the reply.

When did they close the bases in Europe?

So, basically there is no chance for me to get a job with them? What is their employment package like?

Why so keen on Saudia? Can think of better places to live and work in the gulf.

Bases closed post 1991..... For obvious reasons..

Why do people fly for them.... good question with many answers...

1: No other choice.
2: Need the money....
These are usually the reasons for joining... but then..

1: Home base with 12-14 days flying per month. (for about 500 people)
2: Long layovers.
3: 6 days off in a block per month.
4: 6 confirmed / 1 standby ticket per year.
5: Good place to find a husband :)
6: Company supplied buckets, 1 for the money, 1 for the other stuff...:)

With over 400 new hires per year, they dont have any problems finding people!

Why did they close the base?

Not sure why I am so keen. Maybe because I have not had much of luck with Emirates and all the others. Perhaps I will do better with Saudi Arabian Airlines.
