Good news for MyTravel after many years hugging the bottom of the summer charter delay league tables, they have been awarded as the most punctual UK charter airline for summer 2006 according to the latest league table produced by flightontime from CAA data.

Thomas Cook were in second place but there is a big gap between MyTravel and any other airline.

Rank - Airline (Average Delay in minutes)

1 - MyTravel Airways (14.66)
2 - Thomas Cook Airlines (21.74)
3 - First Choice Airways (22.74)
4 - Thomsonfly (23.90)
5 - Astraeus (35.47)
6 - XL Airways (36.53)
7 - Monarch Airlines (40.86)
8 - Flyjet (65.66)

What on earth happened to Monarch though? Average delay up 22% to 41 minutes. At Newcastle the average flight was 1h40 late!! :yuk:

Remember that Monarch have a charter and a scheduled dvision. Comparing the figures:

Average Delay: Charter - 40mins / Scheduled - 18mins
% within 15mins: Charter - 57% / Scheduled - 70%
% 1 hour+ delay: Charter - 16%/ Scheduled - 7%
% 3 hours+ delay: Charter 5% / Scheduled - 1%

Scheduled do a lot better, the cynics might even suggest scheduled gets preference?
