Hey,

I am new to the forum so I apologise if this is in the wrong place. I was wondering could anyone tell me the official title of a Software Enginner/Technician/Developer in the Aeronautical industry? Example: An software developer for on board/ground based aircraft systems?

Many Thanks. I did a ton of Google-ing but all I got was mechcanical aeronautical engineering.

Thanks again,

Yeah, thanks for all the reply's. Its been a great help. I'm more focused on "virtual engineering" however (If that makes any sense :) ) I would be interetsed in designing aircraft computer systems or ground computer systems. from my research it seems to be a branch of aeronautical engineering.

Aircraft computer systems covers such a wide range of systems. If it's the avionics side of things you're interested in, then try just simple electronics and electrical engineering.
I did a degree in Avionics by the way which covers fundamentals of both EEE and aeronautical engineering.
