JAA-TR -> how to put on a FAA Licence?

Hi guys,

just posted the same question in "Questions", but I also heared of a couple biz-jet guys who obviously did that to keep their ratings.

Does anyone know if it is possible to put european TR´s on a commercial US licence without too much hassle?
I just changed the operator and a/c type, and I don´t want to loose the old ratings.

Any advice and help welcome.

I believe that you have two options:

1) do an approved full sim-course (it's a lot easier to combine FAA/JAA initials if the training center holds both approvals).
2) do a checkride on the aircraft, to the best of my knowledge the only way to escape the requirement to do a full course.

This probably isn't very helpful, Check your PMs for something that may, but it might be helpful for others in a similar position.

If you already have both licences and a type on one or the other, when attending a renewal ask the provider (e.g. FSI Simuflite etc) to test you for the other licence as well.

If your training is paid for by your employer they will probably be happy to bill you seperately for the additional cost which should be a lot lower than some seperate arrangement.

AFAIK FSI and the likes are only allowed to perform a checkride at the end of a full initial course. Therefore doing a checkride during a recurrent would not be a real option.

It seems that these days it is easier to move an FAA rating to a JAA license. With 500 hrs on type, you only need to do a proficiency check.

Thanks very much for that info so far. I´ll try to check with the FAA what is necessary to get an European TR onto my FAA Lic.
The 500hr rule to get it back to Europe is interesting in very useful.

Any other ideas of course still welcome :-)
