Anyone any idea where in SA I can get a rating on a PC6 Porter.

Have you tried the para-jumping club in Wonderboom?
I seem to recall a Porter dropping meat-bombs a few years ago.

Not really terribly helpful but one could, perhaps, get hold of Snecma and ask them where the odd Astazou or two was floating around in aircraft as opposed to helicopters.
There was at least one Astazou J31 based to Cranfield/UK not too long ago. Horrid as the Garretts may be when compared with a PT6, they are divine when placed alongside the jolly ouff French contribution to engineering excellence.;)
