Hi everybody!

Does anyone know if the Citation CJ3 is certified for single-pilot operations in Europe generally and in Switzerland specifically?

EDIT: I just found out that it's EASA single-pilot certified:
http://www.easa.eu.int/doc/Certifica...eries%20R3.pdf (http://www.easa.eu.int/doc/Certification/Design_Appro/Aircrafts/EASA-TCDS%20525%20Series%20R3.pdf) (on page 20)

Is it possible that some JAA member countries (Switzerland) may have stricter rules, i.e. not allowing single-pilot operations?

I have an additional question about this subject.

When the CitationJet I is flown under an JAR AOC does this automatically mean that you'll need to fly the aircraft Multi Crew?
Does this vary per country and does it depend on how the company describes it in the AOC?

as far as I can remember JAR-OPS content, multi crew is required whenever MTOW exceeds 5.7T or A/C is multi turbofan/turbojet regardless of MTOW.

I'm afraid there's no way to operate a twinjet single crew in europe under JAR AOC nowadays, even a C501SP which used to.

Agree with 5 rings always 2 crew AOC. As with my last conversation with Uk CAA the CJ3 will still be a single pilot aeroplane for regulations and private flying. Their was another thread saying other authorities differed on some regulations on the CJ's.

"Some minor backwater countries may regulate for two crew ops for those flights."

How can we find out which countries require the 2 crew ops?
Is there some sort of list available?

as far as Europe is concerned, please refer to JAR-OPs 1.940.b.(1)....

it says it all...no single crew ops under commercial IFR service on turbojets.

JAR-OPS 1.940
(b) Minimum flight crew for operations under
IFR or at night. For operations under IFR or at night,
an operator shall ensure that:
(1) For all turbo-propeller aeroplanes
with a maximum approved passenger seating
configuration of more than 9 and for all turbojet
aeroplanes, the minimum flight crew is 2 pilots;
or
(2) Aeroplanes other than those covered
by sub-paragraph (b)(1) above are operated by a
single pilot provided that the requirements of
Appendix 2 to JAR-OPS 1.940 are satisfied. If the
requirements of Appendix 2 are not satisfied, the
minimum flight crew is 2 pilots.

All jets are therefore 2 crew when operated on a JAR-OPS AOC.
