View Full Version : The Wet?

Any of our Darwinites care to elaborate on whether their wet season has arrived yet??!!

Just been looking at some weather maps, as you do, and have noticed that the monsoon's don't even look like wandering over the Top End yet. Bit of a late start??

Was looking forward to a bit of wet season weather in the Gulf when I get back from holidays, but I'm beginning to wonder when I'll see it!!

Hop on the Met website: www.bom.gov.au and click on the full globe Sat picture. Its pretty obvious where the monsoon trough is, and it ain't over Darwin yet.

Be patient my son.

Nutin here yet. all dry and dusty still. and them clouds is still a little bit east of here (actually, there is a little gap in them around us) Have a look at the nice little gap in the system around the east of cape leveque.
Hot and dry still. plenty of bumps though.

tinpis
12th Jan 2007, 01:09
Bit of luck some will spill to the east of the system and stop those bloody sodbusters from eyeing off our water.

the wizard of auz
12th Jan 2007, 01:24
The settlements around here are well and truly due for the annual washdown and flushout. :eek: that system can drift a little west if it likes. I do believe you easterners are enjoying some of our allocation at the moment. :}

If I didn't know better, I'd say some government cost-cutting department had gotten hold of our monsoon and redistributed it.

This January daily falls of 6, 8, 4, 12mm etc. In past years (1997 for instance) 44, 79, 82, 174mm all around this time of year...

Maybe the next MJO round will deliver??

The weather here is disgusting

There seems to be a force field around Darwhine fending off the rain showers

No ****... take a look at the BOM radar for a few minutes.:{

I blame it on the open road speed limit :mad:

the wizard of auz
24th Jan 2007, 02:52
The only moisture around here is whats pouring out of me. :uhoh:
I reckon there is something amiss though. If the SG of water is 1..... I should weigh about ten kilos after what I'm leaking from my skin here at the moment. I reckon I have shed about thirty litres in the last two hours.
Bloody river has dropped from massive flood to little trickle in four days.
I'm blaming the DOTARS mob and the ASIC card......... just because I can.

Plenty of clouds here, but still no rain. just makes it a pain to fly about. hot as hell too............ I reckon a 3 day wet is a pretty poor effort. they should change the name to "The damp".
