At the risk of being regarded as an anorak I had a look at the BHD website this morning to see if the stormy conditions prevailing in East Belfast were affecting flights. It was a bit of a confusing picture with at least one flight from Heathrow being diverted to BFS, another going to Heathrow delayed because of weather and some cancellations of flights operated by Dash 8 400 series. However, other services using the same type of aircraft were proceeding as normal and the ATR from Cork had made it in and was preparing to take off again. Is it really easier to land an ATR in gales than an airbus? Why are some flights able to operate and others not? Is it really a decision for individual pilots? Just curious.
