View Full Version : Starting soon with EZY

Cleared ILS approach

Dear all,
I'll be starting soon with EZY as a DE SFO not type rated (LGW based) and I have a few questions regarding some details. Nothing really important but if someone could help me it would be nice :
- How will the training be organised? I was told that it would be at CTC (I guess in Dibden). Is everything done in Dibden or some courses take place at Luton or somewhere else? How is accomodation organised? Is it true that you get accommodation and meals within CTC? If training is organised at LTN, do you get accommodation or do you need to find something yourself?
- Do you get duty pay during initial training? Or are you on basic pay until line training does start?
- Do you get some free days during initial training or is it busy everyday? Just to have some time to go home to pay the bills and clean your stuffs :{
- Could anyone give me a kind of planning about the initial training. Gnd course, CPT, SIM, Base training..
As you can see no majors points but it's just to satisfy my curiosity.
Thanks for your precious help.
Regards

Hi Doug,
Sorry but according to me these are minors points. I had a close look at my contract but these points are not mentioned. I could give a call to recruitment but I think they have better things to do. Anyway, if you are at EZY, any chance that you give some some infos.
Thanks
Best regards

As far as I know, if you're joining EZY as a DE SFO then you should get everything catered for by the Company on DUTY days only i.e. Every groundschool or sim day will have accommodation and food sorted by EZY. I know this was always the case at CTC, where they would either accommodate you at Dibden, or put you up in Lyndhurst.

If things are still the same as when I joined, then the groundschool should be Mon - Fri 9-5 withy weekends off. Obviously the sim will be rostered at random and dependent on slots. You will alsmost certainly have days off at some point, probably concurrent days between the fixed base phase and FFS phase.

As far as I am aware you get Salary only during the type rating, but if you do get any sector pay then it will be the standard 2 nominal sectors pay for a groundschool or sim duty. For an FO I believe this around £35.

Hope this helps... but better worth checking it out with a more recent joiner.

If you're TRSS which I'm presuming you are you won't go on the payroll until you have completed pre-base training which occurs soon after the LST on the sim. In other words, you have to fend for yourself for approx three months.

Airbus course is done with CTC - I believe the sim is at Nursling or GECAT?? Not sure about Airbus tho. . .

CTC do provise accom and food, so no dramas there.

'DTD' is right regarding the training schedule - Mon-Fri, weekends off. Even our sim's were Mon-Fri too with the exception of the LST.

TRSS tend to get priority over the CTC cadets regarding base training as they're on the payroll straight after training whereas CTC cadets are still paid by CTC for six months or so......

PM me if you're after any more info - Cheers.

Hi everyone,

I would appreciate info on the study material for the A319 type rating with easy. Is it given in the form of books or in CDs/DVDs? In such a case is a laptop needed or is a palmtop/handheld sufficient? Is internet access necessary for the type rating course?

Thanx,

Coppi,

It is a requirement now with EZY that you have a laptop, they will tell you that at the interview. The course is by books and CD/DVD's no need for internet access while on course.
Hope that helps.

5150,
I think you are confusing the issue. CIa has already stated he is a Direct Entry pilot and as a result will be on basic pay from the start of the type rating. TRSS is a totally different contract, under which, as you quite rightly say, you do not get paid until you have the type stamped in your licence.

In that case won't he need a type rating prior to joining?

I agree it's a bit confusing as he mentions he's not type rated!!? :ugh:

Hi everybody,

As Rotax said I'll join as a Direct Entry Senior FO but I'm not type rated. If you have a look on the website you can join as a direct entry pilot if you have any medium jet type rating which may not be A319 or 737.

To everybody, thanks for your reply. It's very helpfull.

Email the recruitment team to find out for sure, or failing that call training they wont bite, well Dave Owens will bite your wife for you....but that is another story.

In terms of simulators last I heard CTC's weren't authorised for Full Flight so you will have to go to Gatwick for that, the absolute arse of it is if you are LGW based they wont provide you with HOTAC as this is your base. Again, speak to training for clarification but they have pulled some nasty stunts on people transferring to gatwick without a type rating internally, i.e. transfer them the day before their course so they dont pay HOTAC.

You may well be ferried all over the place and have some nasty sim slots with the way things are at the moment, our friend mr owens screwed up the sim allocations. There is a car you can use at LGW though and wherever you are sent you can claim.

I wouldn't worry about line training I met two guys from Sterling on contract in the Sim building at Alteon who have been on easyJet full pay for 9 months with not one days flying due to no trainers, just done a few sim sandbags.

Seriously though, the training backlog is easing off so I hear I should imagine you wont have a massive wait for your line training.

In terms of base training if you are a direct entry SFO non-trss then you have come off something 'big' so you will most likely do ZFT so you will be a priority for line training after your ZFT sim to comply with the regulations.

Morale is actually very good here now though, once you are out the other side! Don't believe all you read on here!!

Hi there,

Could anyone tell about the the possibility of being granted a TRSS contract on the 737 with EZ ?
Not yet unfrozen but should not take long in my present Company, and all experience on props.
I'd like Luton initially but I was also wondering about the 737 life expectancy with EZ. I've read somewhere here that it was a dieing fleet. Is there any tangible fact backing that ? (like for example any phase out scheme...).
Yeah I know I've got to go through the selection first (and actually I'm just focusing on preps...) but I'm just trying to figure out what to possibly expect with regards to be given the boeing.
No news from them so far since my application submission 2 months ago

Anyway, thx for any clue :p

cheers

They got annie certified then!! great!, some said it would never happen, but then someone also said there was no money in aviation training and CTC has never whiffed of being underfunded..

I sit corrected.

Hi Guys and Gals

I'm due to start an A319 type rating within the next few months (this will be my first jet type) and was wondering whether anyone had any suggestions on what I could read up on/ study beforehand... I understand that most of the course is split between CD-ROM/ training manuals, but I'm just looking for something that would make everything seems a little less foreign during the groundschool!

Cheers,
GD.

Hi Go Detent,
I'm starting with EZY on the 319 next month. Regarding your question about what to read/study I suggest you to try to get a copy of an Airbus 320 family CBT. It's really well done and gave me already an idea about the aircraft. I got mine from somebody in my present company. I'm sure you know somebody who flew the airbus. Mine is not that recent but I guess the aircraft didn't change a lot since 5 years. Try also to get some copy of the EZY electronic documentation from an EZY pilot. At EZY everything is on CD/DVD (FOM, FCOM, training manual,...) so it's quite easy to get it if you know somebody in the company. You will just need to drag and drop the file from a cd and then read them with Acrobat.
Hope that will help you.
Best regards

I wouldn't worry too much about getting a copy of the CBT it is fairly straightforward and reading ahead is not going to help much other than to make you bored when you see it for a second time when you get there.

I would read up on SOP's etc before you get there if you know someone in the company ask to borrow their Part A, B + C CD-ROM.

Enjoy!
