I watched the beautiful Renée Fleming on PBS last night. She was singing in a German (I think) cathedral, and she was at her best. The orchestra was however, being conducted by a rather strange man standing hunched over an harpsichord while conducting....sometimes. Yes, he did look a little odd.

...being conducted by a rather strange man standing hunched over an harpsichord while conducting....sometimes. That would be Trevor Pinnock. Superb.
Fleming was also on my PBS station with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Some pieces wonderful, some screechy.

Yeah the shake and vac lass was hot in a winsome bored housewife wants an afternoon shag sort of a way.

Breakfast TV presenters, trying to pretend that every sub marginal act or event are the dogs own, strike me as looking very stupid in the line of work.

'You should have stayed at school a bit longer mate.'

Any, I mean any kind of street performer. Especially if they're wearing a top hat. 'Just go home, stoppit.'

Swiss Guards at the vatican. They can probably dismember me in a matter of seconds, but they look, well, daft.

Flight Attendants (think safety briefing!)Especially the bit where they show you how to blow those little tubes. :suspect:

Along the lines of those Greek Guards, our own don't look too sensible if you think about what they're doing. There's also the Keys ceremony at ye olde Tower of London. The Carry On team did a brilliant p*ss take on that one.

Then there's that ceremony they have every day at the Pakistan/India border with all the exaggerated foot stamping and gate slamming. The Ministry of Silly Walks wouldn't get a look in. Its a major tourist attraction though and the participants clearly enjoy it. Some of them are stars in their own right, with their own fan club.

My own vote goes for Black Rod at the State Opening of Parliament.

TV reporters on an outside broadcast during the lag between the presenter asking a question and the reporter hearing it after its 72000km journey. They nod. You watch. We wait for it in our house - "the satellite nod" we call it - the real pros are the ones who can resist doing it.

Must get out more

Reporters that report...while walking in a busy mall or some such, totally by themselves.

Rabbit Rabbit rabbit and folks are staring at him....but he is wired for sound and the camera is a hundred yards away, fitted with a bazillion-to-one ratio zoom.

The bloke looks like a total loony.

You know the ones, on the steps of Parliament, behind the politician being interviewed...they're they ones nodding their head vigorously! What sort of a muppet polly needs a tool like that to emphasise their point?:suspect:

Look it's bad enough that it's complete chaos, I'm knackered after flying the pond and there's every reason to suspect Imight not make it oop north without you shuffling into view.

Good job they have really strict laws about fighting in the airport or you would have been well and truly gobbed :*
