Is it only me, or why do we have 3 different Forums discussing Aviation (especially South African).

Am refering to Pprune, Avcom as well as Fyafrica.

Sure, each one has it's own "locals", but more often than not there is a Huge amount of Duplication going on...:ugh:

Why can it not be combined into 1 all informative Forum, or would that be a conflict of interest or "Business" suicide.

Just makes me think about all the different Political Parties, all doing something/nothing.

Just a question...:O

B Safe!

Because the boneheads boycotted PPrune, got all upset when they were asked not to post in Afrikaans.

Putting on kevlar vest now!

south coast is right... in fact it went like this: the afrikaners claimed they were here first, discovered the beauty of the african forum and made it into what it is today... then the pommies became too dominant, took it all over and it was forbidden to speak afrikaans... so the boere packed their oxwagons and moved across in cyber space, to start their own virtual homeland under the strong leadership of a military helicopter pilot with strong links to Libya.

So now they start on pprune about the "economies of scale" of merging all african forums together? I bet you Gunns is rounding up the wagons and handing out weapons to hold onto the Spioenkop of the world wide web.

You're right to put on your kevlar vest south coast, but what's next? Gonna torch all the pc's of afrikaner forum members? Or go after their wives and children...

Agreed Nugpot... dunno why but everyone is much more chilled on Africa... can't think of the last time there were any posts ruined by personal attacks.

But as always different strokes for different folks!

Yeah, I'm a bit irritable when I'm packing for another stint in Jozi. Try some smilies next time.

Fact is, I haven't been called a bonehead in a while. Didn't like it before - don't like it now.

Peace Treaty signed & sealed.

Nope, possibly not - spent a few months/years lurking.

The good thing about lurking - one seldom gets caught up in the politics...

Promise I won't ask that question again - everyone for his own. :O

:ok:

Btw Nugpot: Jozi = Min Dae (oops!) :E

under the strong leadership of a military helicopter pilot with strong links to Libya.
Now Gunns has certainly flown helicopters with the military in the past, but last time I spoke with him he was running his own security company. It specialises in detecting false visas and false passports thereby saving the Libyan civilian airline that employs him a fistful of monies in fines and deportation charges.
I think your quote is a bit misleading RCC and makes Gunns sound like a very dodgy character, when actually he is a half decent bloke who buys his round and likes cricket and rugby (he knows **** all about cricket though, thinks Kallis is a god!!)

Oops, sorry Surely Not, for stepping on your toes... I apologise and did not mean to call Guns a dodgy character!

Surely, you saw the post was in jest, or Not?

BTW I don't do smileys, like south coast I guess, I think they're for girls (for those now threatened in their sexual identity, please picture a smiley)

surely not

RCC maybe your post was written with the intention of being funny, but to write something that seems to imply someone is a mercenary helicopter pilot involved with a regime that has been considered a menace for many years isn't funny, no matter who the scriptwriter was. In fact it is probably bordering on the libelous.

Knowing that he is a decent honest guy who doesn't visit this forum anymore I felt it would be wrong to let your comment go without reply.

As for your worries about your sexuality, you don't need to worry about using smilies, they won't turn you into a girly :p ;) :ugh:  :E

Wow, should I down a dozen beers now to prove to myself I'm a man?

Thank God for emoticons, they add so much spice and juice. Anyone here remember the <g> 's and LMHO ROFLs those were gr8 fun also.

Group hug guys.

Now carry on with slagging off those that irritate you and bring out your best rumours to keep this (Africa) forum as good as it's been for the past ten years or so.

Safe flying, hope you're with your loved ones on the day & best wishes to all Africans for the New Year.

"Why can it not be combined into 1 all informative Forum, or would that be a conflict of interest or "Business" suicide."

Thats like asking the BBC to change their format to the FOX network........Your gonna have fun with this thing for sure. Suffice it to say that PPrune is making money now for someone. It therefore must pass a level of decorum that will not have the sponsors going through the roof by posters like me.......

By the Way Merry Christmas.

Q4NVS – In the “rest of the world & non-English language” forums there used to be two (2) “African related” forums, “African Aviation “ and “Camp fire”. These were two very interesting, vibrant and lively forums and only some “treads” were totally Afrikaans. You can think what the “Camp Fire” was mostly for and sometimes I was rolling on the floor with laughter. ;)

I think it was a Spanish speaking individual that reported that he could not understand some of the “treads” . Gunz and other said that the forum was actually for “non-English language” users but the moderators could not understand either and could not moderate as required and expected. :hmm:
This was an ugly story……blood, guts and gore…………but not only in the African forum, in all the other forums the same happened  .

A revolt ensued, people were banned, blocked and killed mafia style….something like that and the rest is history :p .
“Camp fire” was hacked :{ and only English was allowed on this forum since then :* . Some people left and some people returned……I’m sure the older “users” will agree that the forum took a “dive” :( , lost a lot of funny characters with a lot of aviation experience. Some of the other forums could continue with their respective languages because they had moderators conversant in those languages.

Although they put up a fight :ouch: , Gunz and the others understood the principle that the owner of PPRUNE, based in England, could do with this forum as he pleases :ugh: . Nothing wrong with that…………………they (Gunz) just created their own forum in Africa………nothing wrong with that either…….

Here's to you Gunz, hope you return one day soon...........:D :D :D :D

PS - RCC & SC - I used a lot of smileys.....but I still stand to ur..ur...know what! :E
