Hi

Trying to do some sim prep on a 742 sim. It has JTD9-7Q engines, and the numbers are very different to previously posted. Straight and level 280kts is about 3degs nose up, EPR about 1.05.

Can i expect the cathay 74 sim to be very different with regard to EPR settings in order to maintain the required speeds.

Also, when they give you a steep turn, is it 45 or 60 degs. 60 degs at 280 kts brings in the stick shaker.

If anybody has done the sim for the interview, please can you PM me a rundown of what thrust EPR settings were required from take-off, climb, app, missed app etc.

Approx 1.22 for most everything when you don't want the airspeed to move.

Two steep turns at 45. then increase to 60, get shaker, recover.

Don't worry about EPR for T/O, Climb, and Missed.....just make the callout ie "set T/O thrust, set G/A thrust, set climb thrust" and your NFP will set it all for you....very easy!

You'll get some 45deg turns then they'll ask you to increase to 60.
Be smooth when you pull the stick when increasing the bank to 60deg and you won't get the shaker... But no problem if you do, just recover.

During the sim briefing, the instructor told us that 1.2EPR (or 1.22) is the magic number! He'll let you play with the thrust levers before the session starts so that you can "find" the 1.2 almost without looking at the gauges.

Do they expect full stall recovery at stick shaker or just roll off the bank and try again?

If they fail an engine on me, It's only 25% power lost, compared to 50% on a twin. How much would i have to increase thrust?

I wrote that at 60 you get the shaker, but thats not right. At 60 you get airframe buffeting and then you recover.

Increase thrust on the engine failure enough to maintain the desired speed. Just move the throttle up a bit.
