The one which puzzles me most is the habit of spelling definitely "definately"

I suppose that if people pronounced words correctly, their spelling might improve.

Also the use of the word "of" instead of "have" as in "I could of done that" - feckwits

Bill, to understand those poems I had to read like a 4 year old, 1 word at a time very slowly :}

Perhaps it helps some if a phrase is typed very slowly?

'Laying on the ground', or 'lying on the ground'?

The first might be appropriate if you're:

a A ground nesting bird
b Copulating

There was a time when poorly educated parents would berate their children with, "Hens Lay...it's lie. Only common people say lay. Say lie, or you'll go to Hell!!!"

It ended up with the kids growing up saying the likes of... "Lie it down over there etc.".

I'm a member of an internet site for writers and it's disturbing to see the amount of spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes made in story submissions for comment. What becomes apparent is: the younger the writer (usually born post 1970), the more errors. Points to schooling imo.

gudnite :^)
