Has anyone got any pre-1939 pics of this historic, record breaking A/C., & or details of the motiffs carried on the fin & rudder at that time please ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jean Batten's Percival Vega Gull G-ADPR, was on display at Auckland International Airport hanging from the ceiling, outside the Duty Free. Is it still there?

Hi Lancelot

The Gull still hangs there but sadly the post war restorations do not have the overall scheme in her authentic colours, & details which she carried until impressed into wartime serice in 1940.

G-ADPR flew briefly again in the late 90's to commemorate the anniversary of something that I can't quite recall. Cherie Marshall had been flying a floatplane Beaver and was picked as (a woman) having the most recent appropriate experience. She and Greg Ryan (on board engineer) flew around Auckland but had to cut short the flight when the engine began to run rough.

She's now strung up by cables.

The gull is a bit more visible however in the departure section of the international terminal.
