ST-ASJ, FOKKER -50 operated by Sudan Airways, crashed on landing at KENANA, about 200 miles South of HSSS. Looks like the nose wheel collapsed on landing, the aircraft exited the runway and ended up at 90 degrees to the runway, and about 30 mtrs off to the side. No reported injuries to pax or crew, but the aircraft in pretty bad shape. One blade from the No 1 Engine seems to have penetrated the fuselage.
Sudan has had a series of crashes in recent years involving some pretty old machines prompting the Civil Aviation to restrict the use of aircraft over 20 years old in Sudan. However these restrictions do not seem to apply to aircraft already on the ST register. ST-ASJ was built in 1992, and should be a pointer to the CAA in Sudan that crashes are not restricted to aircraft over 20 years old.
