Hi all,

Quick question:

Have recently heard the term "...checks to the line" at the completion (?) of departure checklists in a medium jet. Have also heard "checks below the line" in other phases of flight.

Just wondering what the phrase means exactly. I figure it is either above/below transition or a certain point on the checklist but not too sure.

Yes, it's to a certain point on the checklist. For example, the "Before Start" checklist for one B737 operator ex Australia has a break in it at a point where everything is done except for one or two items that can't be completed until the doors are shut. On the actual check list is a line drawn under the last item able to be completed whislt awaiting the outstanding actions to be completed. The crew call for the "Before Start checklist to the line" and then, when the final actions have been done, call for the checklist "below the line". Nothing at all to do with transition altitude/layer.
