Well, they're talking about introducing a 'carbon credit card' and one of our basic bodily functions involves exhaling carbon dioxide, so I would say that, at last, they have found a way to tax us for breathing!

No, no limits.

When asked by Tory MP Brooks Newmark whether he had overruled his officials who, according to newspaper reports, had advised him to bring the new rate in April, the chancellor said: "I don't think that is the case."

Mr Newmark replied: "You don't think it is... or it is the case?"

Mr Brown said: "I think you'll find decisions in the Treasury are made by the chancellor after taking advice from his officials." In other words, they told him not to but he went ahead and did it anyway :yuk:

I'm reminded of the (in)famous Paxman-Howard exchange:
"... but did you threaten to overrule him ?"
