Just wondered if anyone remembers the film from about 20 or so years ago, where 12 Sqn Buccaneers were filmed detaching to Cyprus (I think) with some stirring music from Vangelis ("To The Unknown Man")? Included one landing at Gib with an engine fire.

I remember seeing it when I was an Air Cadet and it left a lasting impression and helped drive me through school prior to later joining the RAF. Would love to get hold of a copy. A long shot, I know, but anyone know how I might get hold of it?

In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone on this forum actually "starred" in the film! :}

Regards.

I was on Recruiting in the Oldham Area in 78 to 82 and we use to show the film to all the ATC Sqdns it was called 12 Sqn You could always try the Inspectorate of Recruiting but we had to carry bulky old 16mm projectors around to show it.

I have just received that very film on dvd courtesy of "synchro single". I live in Singapore now but can copy and send to you if you send me a blank dvd and make a donation to RAF Benevolent Fund.

Hi, and thanks for the reply. I Googled it and the search lead back to PPrune! Two previous threads about this:-

I've just ordered the DVD "Classic British Jets - Buccaneer" from Play.com for £9.99. One of the previous posters says it contains the 12 Squadron film in full, so looking forward to seeing it again. :)
