Heard a rumour that Norwegian will hire about 60 pilots. They will also be hiring pilots currently not rated on the 737, the rumour goes.

Are there anyone out there who have attended an interview/got a job without currently holding a typerating?

From DYs website:

o Valid type rating on B737 300-900 (at time of employment)

Which means "Yes, you're hired! But you still have to buy your own type rating. Tell us when you're ready!"

heard some rumours that norwegian is considering to start paying for the type ratings themselves, evidently they need many of us in the future:ok:
so a little " ice in the stomach" here and you could get a job for "free" ;) maybe!!

Hi, yes they are employing pilots and I sent my application to them late yesterday night and got the answer back today that they have received many excellent applications, and have now completed there
selection of the short list.
"At this time, we are unable to offer you an interview. That is not
necessarily a reflection on your candidacy, but rather of the sheer volume
of qualified candidates.":{
Does it mean I was too late or just not good enugh? It would be nice to here from anyone that has been accepted for an interviuve when you send in your application and how long time it took for you to recive your answer. Maby they will hire again next winter and I will send in my application straight away at that time!
Anyway Good luck to you who are up for the F/O possitions! :ok:

Well, if it's any consolation, I also received the same reply from Norwegian. I'm not 737 type rated, but have several thousand hours on jets & turbo-props.

I think they've finished recruiting for now. Maybe in the Spring?

I don't think they have any form of selection "process". From what I hear, you either have to know someone on the inside, og just be lucky. It does not matter, or so it seems, what your experience or skill level is - you just have to be willing to pay for the job and/or hope that they randomly pick you. Having flown with them on two occasions, I'd have to say I feel lucky to be working somewhere else. Poor service from a few inexperienced kids in the cabin, no "welcome on board" from the flight deck, ridiculous seat pitch, our aircraft didn't have overhead air vents, the cabin is filled with commercial stickers, you have to pay for every last bit of service. Been there, tried that - ain't doin' it again. Ever.
It was cheap, though, but for a reason. And that's why one should expect nothing in return, I guess. :rolleyes:
Just my two cents' worth, and I could be grossly mistaken, of course - it being only two flights ;)

...and would you believe; on a 4-hour flight, they closed sevice for 20 minutes, to allow the cabin "crew" (read: cheap labour) to have their meal break. What the hell kind of company does not allow the crew to have normal meal stops BETWEEN flights? And what's with only a 20 minute-break on a full working day? Slavery. :=

What the f**k, they cant get along on board and take turns to eat on a friggin 4 hour flight...??? :}

well....all solved now....union wanted meal stops, got it. and btw you now have to sit on OSL to eat, comes down to a 2 hour longer workday....thank god for unions...:E

In which other normal occupation do you work 10-14 hours without one single break?? Yes, I second your thank god for unions, but without the ironic wrapping;)

Spoke with a F/O friend at Norwegian today. He also mentioned they were looking for pilots and had a hard time finding suitable candidates with ratings. Therefor they're now going to offer rating with bond. Only snag is you need 1500TT to be interesting to them. He said it was due to their Cat3 status. Can anyone confirm - would that be a plausible limitation in their AoC for example??

Just another 900 hrs to go! Boy am I glad I joined this queue... :rolleyes:

I've got 4500 TT, most of it jet & turbo-prop, & they weren't interested:*

Must try a different deoderant.

I have been ”investigating” the hiring process at Norwegian for some time, and it is true that there seems to be an element of luck involved when it comes to who is invited to an interview. When you get an interview the selection process is pro forma.

In the past the important factor for getting that interview has been whether you know mr.H. If you do not know mr. H., who do you know who knows him?

Only one other thing counts, and it is to call them quite often. They tell you not to call, so when you call them all the time, they will think you do that because your friend mr. H told you so, and they will know you are an important person.

In the beginning they preferred applicants without too much actual flight experience on the 737. The man in charge came straight from the Fokker 50, but now he is more relaxed about it.

They are hiring constantly, any other information is given only to limit applications from pilots without inside information.

I can´t understand why they haven´t called you. Maybe you should work a bit on your english skills? Or maybe you put "Top Gun instructor" in your CV. A small piece of "humble pie" can sometimes go a long way.

Cant say I see the need to improve my English as it so far has been approved by all my previous employers in the past!!
Listening to Norwegian on the radio down in Europe should justify that statement.

Rgds.

so then it's down to the pie....:E
