Does anyone know where to get one of those fake clone copies for $10? I just want one to play with... :P

Shanghai, in the 'Street of a Thousand Copies'.

But not US$10-lah! Supply & Demand. Pudong fakes are US$50 these days. With their Japanese movements, most of them are better than the originals...

Is the 'Street of a Thousand Copies' really a street or a name of a place? Where is it in Shanghai? :confused:

There are several street markets in Shanghai. Any one of them will have several dealers in fake watches. You can buy anything in a Shanghai street market.

And I do mean anything.

... including an incurable disease - probably for less than the cost of the fake watch!:}

Surprisingly Hurghada Duty Free has a good selection all in replica boxes but $60-$80 not $10

Ebay sells lots of them and tells you they are fakes too

Do you want it to indicate the (approximate) time, or just look good at parties?

Thirty years ago Mrs G-CPTN bought a simple digital watch from a market stall in Bedford for 1.50 (she was having difficulty getting any analogue watch to GO on her wrist). The digital watch lost more than an hour per day (even laid on the table - yes, she checked that), so she returned it for a refund. The stallholder tried to suggest "What do you expect for 1.50?", but I'm afraid Mrs G-C persuaded him that it hardly met the description of a watch. 10-15mins per day might be tolerable, but more than an hour was, in her opinion, not.

Of course you could always settle for the 'exactly right twice a day' version.

I bought a fully automatic one with Swiss internals, saphire glass etc in Bodrum, Turkey earlier this year for 45. It keeps amazing time.

You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference with the genuine article by its side.

They had a huge range of famous names and all were very good copies. Even the Rolex's second hand sweep was like the real thing.

They also has 10 Rolex's but you could see they were fake. Probably to encourage you to buy the 'genuine' fakes...
