The still images are genuine. The actual video footage is a History Channel reconstruction of the event.

How's that bombed up? The vid footage looks 'created' to anyone with an eye for detail.

Sorry, GPMG. Reaction to seeing an old story recycled. I guess it was aimed more at Safeware's discovery of this wierd "strange military" blog.

Just struck me that it must have taken some time to discover, hunched over a computer, "instead of getting out there and digging up the potatoes"

Bombed up, it wasn't a "discovery" just a post to give a non video intensive view of what actually happened.

Reminds me of a certain Tornado 3, Austral Winter 2000. Safely recovered by superb airmanship.

GBZ,

Unlike a not so lucky pair of F3s, Lincolnshire, Jan 96. Fortunately everyone got out, but it showed you didn't have to lose much of a Tornado wing for it to crash. And if you lost a lot of wing, the roll rate induced was quite phenomenal.

To cut a long story very short; it hit a radio mast outside Stanley. The mast owners had very thoughtfuly painted it with orange and white stripes. It blended in with the scenery beautifuly.
