Hello,

I am a U.S. citizen, and an experienced, FAA licensed Helicopter Engineer.
Are there any job opportunities for someone like myself in Scandinavia?
My experience is primarily on Eurocopter BK117, EC135, and Agusta A109E, and I have a good bit of overhaul experience.
I also have experience on Eurocopter AS365N, N1, N2, AS355 Twinstar, Agusta A109AII, and Bell 214ST.
I appreciate any help you guys can offer.

It depends, do you have a ICAO engineer license on any of those helicopters?
If you do, you should be able to find work.
There are both big and small companies around, like: CHC, HeliOne, Norsk Helikopter, Airlift, Lufttransport and many more.
Google them and send a e-mail with your info to the HR department.

The biggest obstacal would be a work-permit, if you do have a right to work in Europe than you can work all over Scandinavia.

Thanks Off Airport,

I don't have an ICAO license, just my FAA license. I have completed factory schools on the aircraft I mentioned, which I'm told would equate to an ICAO endorsement.
I appreciate the names of the companies you provided. I'll look them up.
You mentioned a work permit. Could you explain this to me? I'm assuming it's like a visa, but how would I get one?
I'm in Saudi currently, and the company that employed me applied for all the necessary visas and permits. Would I have to find a similar opportunity in Europe?
Thanks again.

If you can work in one of the EU countries you can work in them all. Guess it is the same as a green card in the US. I'm a EU citizen and it would be almost impossible for me to get a work permit in the US. Except if I married or won the greeen card lottery. No such equivalent here I'm afraid.
Good luck, maybe you'll find a nice scandi girl to marry. :ok:

Sorry to tell you this but courses in manufacturers schools will not give you any ICAO credit you would have to do a complete EASA 145 course to obtain a license, furthermore as you are not a EU citizen you can only work in a country where you hold a work permit and you must apply for a permit for every country in Europe that you would want to work in it is only EU passport holders who have freedom of movement within the EU, sorry that may have burst your bubble but thats EU law for you.:ugh:
