I have just (today!) been invited to HK for an interview for a position as a Sim. Instructor with CX. As part of the interview process, they have advised me that I am to be evaluated in the 747 sim. As the position I am applying for is a non-flying position, any idea what they will be looking for? Will I be teaching a lesson? I am not familiar with the 47, and I will be heading there in 2 weeks - any tips?

I have read all I can find in the archives but there is little help for this position.

If anyone has had any experience with this job, please let me know.

Wellll, guess there's no help for this one.
When I get this job, there's nothing for it, I'm going to be REAL hard on your recurrent asses! :=

You will be interviewed on your airline and large aircraft knowledge, Cathay Pacific in particular and Asia in general. You will be required to fly a profile in the B747 to a high standard and critique the technique of a "student" in the sim - usually a sim instructor. In addition, you will be required to teach a lesson on an assigned subject using accepted IT aids such as .ppt and projectors, etc. You will also have a medical.

Do your homework and you'll be fine. PM me if you wish for more info. I am not a sim instructor, but do fly for CX.

Thank you for the reply. I have not received anything from the office yet, having just accepted a trip to HK for the interview. I assumed there would be a lesson to teach, although I didn't know if the position included both classroom and sim. I am only getting three weeks lead on this so there will be no time to rent a sim. for practice...I will certainly PM you once the package arrives; I now have a direction to study towards! Thanks again!
Is the sim. is a -400 or a Classic?

I would hazard a guess that the sim will probably be the -400, as there are three of them (vs. one classic) and three -400 instructors have just left for flying jobs with Oasis. The 777 and airbus sims are overworked. PM me your private email address - I will dredge up what I can on the profiles to be flown and the package and email them to you.

I seem to be unable to send you my email address. I will try again tomorrow.
