Just wondering what a better way to get into Cathay would be. Direct entry FO or start as an SO. If you start as a Direct entry FO is your only choice frieghter? or can you go Pax? if you start as frieghter how does one go about moving into the pax side of Cathay?

Also can you get into being a direct entry FO when you have time in say a CRJ-200 (3500TT, 1500PIC, 800 PIC is jet (CRJ))?

Im just trying to figure the best way to go abouts getting into CX and would appreciate anybodys opinions.

Here is an authorative estimate of the number of pilots needed by CX.
"New aircraft mean more new pilots for CX and our Flight Operations team is continuing to work hard on recruitment. Last year we hired 130 new pilots - a mixture of Second Officers and direct entry First Officers. This year we will recruit in the region of 180 and that number is likely to rise to 250 in 2007. ICAO's recent decision to raise the working age for pilots from 60 to 65 will give us a little bit of gain in this area."
They are asking people who haven't heard from them for 3 or 4 yrs to update the CV. Everyone needs pilots now!
