Hi His Dudeness

You will probably have more luck with your request if you ask on the African forum.

Bangui is a well maintained airport by African standards, operated by Asecna (the body that manages most large airport in the former French colonies). I do not remember of any handler there, the space was left empty after Air Afrique went bankrupt.

The town is completely derelict, having suffered several coup attempts and civil wars in the last decades. Almost no economic activity except for diamond trading. The locals are very welcoming though, very simple but very nice people.

Good hotel? Hotel Sofitel, with a breathtaking view over the Ubangui River. Otherwise, the Hotel du Centre is not bad.

Good restaurant? Le Relais de Chasse, in the city center, with excellent meat.

Good clubs? The Songo Night Club, in the city center as well...

Have fun!

TTF.

Hallo treetop,
thanks, just back from that trip...tried to stay in Sofitel, but UN (!) took over the Hotel for a few nights, so we and our pax were stranded...in the end we stayed in the presidential palace. Airport was so and so...we got fuel despite a NOTAM that said we wouldnt. When we arrived, the RWY lighting went very very dim (partial fail) and it was night...interesting to say the least...

Ate in the city at a place run by "Fred", a french expat...dunno the name, but was good food.

Selfhandling btw. - but prob.

Again thanks for info !
