The two Martin Mars (http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=24327) water bombers based at Sproat Lake on Vancouver Island are being put up for sale. The link is to another board, that also supplies two links that show the aircraft in action. The Galiano Island fire link is to a news clip that shows a water pickup.

Excellent - I got to see them on the way up to Tofino in June this year. sadly they were at anchor and I didn't get to see them fly. Impressive, all the same.

PB,

I could only get sound on the Galiano Island clip - very frustrating as I had always wanted to see a Mars doing a water pickup. However, I found the following on YouTube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=d_ZIvJbr-50 and despite the title (Water Bomber Takeoff 2), it looks like it might be a water pickup. Can you confirm?

India Four Two that does indeed look like a take-off to me, since I don't see any water escaping from the tank overflows and the run appears quite long for a pick up. I just checked the Galiano Island clip and I got the video no problem. The pick up segment begins at the 42 second mark and is very short, just 5 seconds or so, and shows the end of the pick up run and the aircraft lifting off.
